Saira Banu Remembers Late Legend Dilip Kumar As He Gets Honoured At IFFI 2021; Actress Says 'He Motivated And Encouraged Me To Follow My Heart'
The legend of Indian cinema Dilip Kumar, fondly called 'Dilip Saab', breathed his last on July 7, 2021, after a prolonged illness. The tragic demise of the legendary actor left everyone heartbroken and teary-eyed. Recently, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa paid a heartfelt tribute to Dilip Kumar for his immense contribution to Indian Cinema. While remembering him, Dilip’s wife Saira Banu poured out her heart in a lengthy article. Right from talking about Dilip’s achievements, contribution to Indian Cinema to being a 'responsible star', the veteran actress truly bared her heart out.

As per a report in ETimes TV, Saira Banu in her article said, “On the personal front, not many know that it was Dilip Saheb who motivated and encouraged me to follow my heart and create a fund for providing medical assistance and daily necessities to genuinely needy people who had no earning capacity. The charity trust WORCS (Welfare Organisation for Care & Relief Services) supports over 50 families living below the poverty line.”

She also revealed that Dilip Kumar was the first actor in Indian cinema who understood that a “film was a product created by the collective contribution of varied skills.” The actor selected one film at a time as he felt "an actor’s contribution did not end with his hard work in front of the camera."

Talking about Dilip Saab’s contribution to Indian Cinema, Saira Banu was quoted saying, “Dilip Kumar’s greatest contribution is the change he brought about in histrionics at a time when actors were being applauded for their loud and theatrical acting. With his subtle acting, his refined body language, his facial expressions and the intensity of his soft, beautifully modulated voice he conveyed the feelings and thoughts of the characters he portrayed on the screen in a way that pleased the viewers and touched their hearts.”

For the unversed, Dilip Kumar died at the age of 98 after a long and protracted illness in Mumbai's Khar Hinduja Hospital. The late actor was laid to rest with full state honours.  Also Read: Dilip Kumar’s Funeral: Saira Banu Stood Beside Her Husband Till He Was Buried; 54-Year-Old Bond That Transcends Life And Death
